The Builder of The House[i]

“He who built the house has more honor than the house.  For every house is built by some person; but He that built all things is God.” (Hebrews 3:3-4)

Perhaps the single greatest category of evidence for supernatural creation is in the nature of the creation itself, which everywhere shows such intricate design that it could not have come by random chance.  Consider the earth: Its size, mass, distance from the moon, rotational wobble, chemical make-up, ect, is critical within very narrow limits.  Any significant deviation in any of these, or other characteristics, would make life impossible.

But inorganic molecules, planets, galaxies are simpler by several orders of magnitude then even the tiniest living organism.  The marvelous genetic code which regulates life, growth, and reproduction, is so unthinkably complex, so obliviously designed, that it would take a “willingly ignorant” (II Peter 3:5 ) mind to conclude a naturalistic origin for it.  Life at every stage and at every level of investigation shows symmetry in its order, purpose in its function and interdependence between its parts; all of these are clear marks of design by an intelligent designer. (My emphasis)

The evidence speaks so eloquently that even “the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”( Romans 1:20) if they choose not to believe, and therefore merit and face His wrath (v. 18 ).

“All things were created by Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16).  Mankind can take neither pride in it nor rebellious solace in the idea of naturalistic origin, for “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are created” (Revelation 4:11).

Clear Marks of Design: The Filaree Seed and its Pentagon Cluster

In the Filaree seed and its cluster, do you recognize life’s complex patterns of design?[ii]

  •             Interconnected parts
  •             A particular arrangement of its parts, and the perfect symmetry of the cluster
  •             Proper alignment of parts
  •             Synchronized moving parts in response to moisture and drying out
  •             Balanced proportion in shape and dimensions
  •             Definite sequence of correct assembly
  •             Each part comes separately to maturity yet each cannot act independently because of their inter-dependence
  •             Each part is functionally interconnected to satisfy an intended purpose
  •             The whole seed is a function of all of its parts having the intent of reproducing itself.

Summing up: the Filaree seed and its cluster - its interdependent and moving parts, arranged in a particular order with precise shapes, alignment, and timing of maturing and movement- represent patterns consistent with the concept of design and therefore could not have been the product of chance processes. Since “intent is a hallmark of intelligence and is not a characteristic of natural environments, its presence allows a clear distinction for formulating questions such as what best explains” each feature of an object and the presence and purpose of the object itself. Are the object and its parts specifically suited for some intended purpose or are they the result of random coming together for no particular purpose other than what humans assume it is?

“Penetrate into nature wherever he may, thought has been there before him.”[iii]

The “intent” of nature reveals the presence of a mind that brought it forth into reality.

“Never has it been observed that an impersonal being, force, mind, or impersonal anything has ever created a designed, physical object that exists in the present.”[iv]

The creation we live in requires the existence of a being that is eternally self-existent. Who is this being? The God of the Bible. The Bible accurately describes this God, the universe we live in, the creation of a great variety of life forms including mankind, and the basic laws that govern all of creation. All observational scientific evidences and historical facts support this statement.

The Filaree seed and its cluster, as complex patterns of design, are two more examples of created objects that were first formulated in the mind of the God of the Bible. “The best explanation for this (design) still remains the infinite power of the Lord Jesus Christ, who packed all of this complexity into creatures whose workmanship stands unequaled.” (Guliuzza)

What person would have even thought of creating a seed like this one with its unique features?
